The ALC supports students who are:

• pursuing early graduation
• behind on credits or needing credit recovery
• needing a non-traditional schedule due to work, family, or personal circumstances

No. The ALC does not offer PAP, AP, Dual Credit or OnRamps courses.  Most CTE courses are not offered, as well. 

The ALC does offer courses that allow students to graduate on the Distinguished Graduation Plan with certain Endorsements.

Acceleration can refer to different pathways depending on a student’s goals. In Aledo 
ISD, we support both:

• Advanced academic acceleration (through AHS), where students take additional courses over the summer or higher-level courses to access more rigorous opportunities, including advanced or college-level coursework during high school.
• Early graduation acceleration (through ALC), where students move through required coursework at a faster pace in order to graduate sooner. 

Because the ALC is an accelerated program, we are not able to follow UIL grading guidelines.  Therefore, students are not allowed to participate in UIL/extracurricular activities at AHS.

Yes, ALC students can attend prom if they are classified as a senior and in good standing.

Yes, if ALC students have completed all graduation requirements, they can participate in the graduation ceremony at AHS.

Outside of school hours, students are encouraged and expected to work on their coursework at home. The shortened school day allows for flexibility in the student’s day to complete assignments at home.

Yes, ALC students are expected to graduate CCMR complete.

• TSI met in reading and math through either the SAT, ACT, or TSIA2. Students may combine assessments, passing Math on one (e.g., TSIA2) and RLA on another (e.g., SAT).
• Successful completion of the Strategies for Success course through McMurry.

Students may ride the bus to school. However, transportation is not provided at 12:50pm dismissal.Students may drive to school.

Students can make an appointment with the counselor at AHS to discuss if this is the best option for them.  From there, the ALC counselor will follow up with the student and provide them with an application. Students may have to be on a waitlist for acceptance.

GPA is calculated the same as for AHS students; however, ALC students are not included in AHS class rank. 

No, students that complete their courses from the ALC are excluded from class rank.

Yes, students that graduate through the ALC will receive an Aledo High School diploma.

Yes, students can order breakfast and lunch. Breakfast is delivered to ALC. Lunch will be delivered to ALC in time for students to take it with them at dismissal.
